Cook Time 25 minutes
Servings: 1 loaf ( 10-12 Slices)
Course: Breakfast
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 3 cups bread flour or all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cup warm milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons melted non-salted butter or oil vegetable or olive oil
  • 1 small pack of active dry yeast

Method

Method 1: If You Want It Fast & Easy (Stand Mixer)
  1. Warm up your milk (not too hot—just cozy warm), then throw everything into your stand mixer.
  2. Let it mix until the dough comes together, then crank it up for about 3 minutes.
  3. You’ll know it’s ready when:
  4. It pulls away from the sides
  5. It feels soft and slightly tacky
  6. That’s your sign: you nailed it.
  7. Now just:
  8. Lightly grease your bowl
  9. Shape the dough into a ball
  10. Cover it and let it rise
  11. Come back in about 2 hours… and it’ll be triple the size. That’s when things start getting exciting.
🫶 Method 2: The Lazy Girl / No-Knead Way (Honestly My Favorite)
  1. Now THIS method feels like magic.
  2. Start by mixing:
  3. Warm milk
  4. Sugar, salt, oil, yeast
  5. Then add your flour and mix it up with a fork until it looks… messy. Like a rough, shaggy dough.
  6. And don’t stress—that’s exactly what you want.
Here’s a Little Secret
  1. This dough is not super sticky like other no-knead breads.
  2. Why? Because sandwich bread is supposed to be:
  3. Soft
  4. Fine-textured
  5. Not full of big air holes
  6. So we keep hydration lower = tighter, fluffier crumb.
The Trick That Changes Everything
  1. At some point, your fork will give up (literally ). That’s when you switch to using your hands.
  2. But here’s the trick:Wet your hands
  3. This helps:
  4. Prevent sticking
  5. Hydrate dry spots
  6. Make everything way easier
  7. Once it comes together, let it rest for 30 minutes.
The Stretch & Fold Magic
  1. Now instead of kneading (because we’re not doing that here), you’ll do:
  2. Stretch and folds
  3. Every 30 minutes:
  4. Grab one side of the dough
  5. Stretch it
  6. Fold it over
  7. Do this about 4 times, turning the bowl each time.
  8. Then tuck the dough into a smooth ball.
  9. Repeat this process 4 times total.
  10. And watch what happens…
  11. That messy dough?Turns into a smooth, soft, beautiful dough ball.
  12. No kneading. Just patience.
The Final Rise
  1. After your last round, let the dough rest for about 1 hour.
  2. By the end, it should be: Puffy Soft Tripled in size
  3. Now it’s ready to become bread.
Shaping the Loaf (This Part Is So Satisfying)
  1. Lightly flour your surface and roll the dough into a rectangle (don’t overthink it).
  2. Then:
  3. Flip it so the smooth side is on the outside
  4. Roll it up like a log (or sausage shape)
  5. Tuck the ends in
  6. Place it into your loaf pan seam side down.
  7. And just like that… it actually starts looking like real bread.
The Second Rise
  1. Cover it and let it rise again for about an hour.
  2. You’ll know it’s ready when: It rises slightly above the pan
  3. That’s your green light to bake.
Baking Time
  1. Pop it into a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for about 25 minutes.
  2. What you’re looking for:
  3. A nice golden top
  4. Fully risen loaf
  5. Not too pale, not too dark
  6. And here’s something important:
  7. No steam needed(This isn’t crusty bread—we want it soft!)
The Final Touch (Don’t Skip This)
  1. As soon as it comes out of the oven…
  2. Brush the top with butter.
  3. This gives you:
  4. That soft, shiny crust
  5. That bakery-style finish
  6. That “I need to eat this immediately” feeling
The Hardest Part (Waiting )
  1. Let it cool completely before slicing.
  2. I know. It’s torture.
  3. But if you cut it too early, it turns gummy—and we didn’t do all this for that.
Storage Tips (So It Lasts All Week)
  1. Store at room temperature (wrapped or in a bag)
  2. Pre-slice it for easy sandwiches
  3. Freeze slices for later
  4. Pro tip: Toast straight from frozen—it’s perfect.
  5. And whatever you do… Don’t put it in the fridge (it actually makes bread go stale faster!)
